MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Three members of the Washington and Lee football team were named to the D3Football.com All-South Region football team, which was announced on Monday evening.

Senior cornerback Will Dyson (Indian Springs, Alabama / Briarwood Christian) received first team accolades, while senior offensive lineman Michael LaSala (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) and junior linebacker Max Garrett (Fairfield, Conn. / Choate Rosemary Hall) were both second team honorees.

Dyson adds the honor to First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference laurels that he earned earlier this season. He finished the season with 35 tackles, an ODAC-leading six interceptions and he placed second in the league with 10 pass breakups. He is currently tied for 12th in Division III in interceptions per game (0.6) and tied for 13th in passes defensed per game (1.6). Dyson finished his career with with 159 tackles, 32 pass breakups and nine interceptions.

LaSala earned First Team All-ODAC honors in 2016 and was named to the Second Team All-South squad after garnering first team all-region recognition in 2015. He helped pave the way for an offense that averaged 469.3 yards and 33.9 points per game this season. The Generals also currently lead Division III in rushing offense for the second year in a row, having averaged 390.3 yards per game this season.

Garrett was also a First Team All-ODAC selection this year and he was named the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Garrett led the conference with 109 total tackles and he is tied for 27th in Division III with 10.9 tackles per game. He also added three tackles for a loss (-6), three pass breakups and one interception. Through three seasons, Garrett has already racked up 267 career tackles.

Dyson will now move onto the ballot for D3Football.com All-America honors. Those will be announced prior to the Stagg Bowl on December 16.

Washington and Lee completed the 2016 season with a 6-4 overall record and a 5-2 mark in conference play.
