GORDO – The battle between the two heavyweights of Class 3A Region 4 did not quite live up to its’ billing, as the Bulldogs from Montevallo fell to Gordo by a final score of 56-21 in a game that wasn’t even that close. Gordo jumped on Montevallo early and led 56-7 at the half, holding the usually-potent Montevallo offense essentially in check. The Bulldogs scored twice in the second half while holding the Green Wave scoreless, but the damage had already been done.
Montevallo is without five starters currently that have all been lost to inury, including wide receivers/defensive backs Ahmad Edwards and Tavarius Holman as well as senior lineman Matthew Allen.
Stats were unavailable from the game at the press deadline. Montevallo will look to get back on track this upcoming Friday when the Bulldogs travel to take on a Carbon Hill team that has won just once all year.
