Lady Falcons win first tournament of young season

CALERA – The University of Montevallo women’s golf team won their first tournament of the 2016-17 season with a 16-stroke victory in the Full Moon Invitational.

The Falcons shot a 294 as a team in the final round of play to finish the invitational with a team score of 576.

Arin Eddy shot a two-over 73 in the final round and combined with her first round score of four-under 68 finished the invitational at two-under par.  Eddy’s score was good enough to claim the individual championship.

Elaine Wood led the Falcons on the final day, shooting a one-over 72 to finish the invitational at even par, which was good for a share of third place.

Kirstie Saltiel ended the invitational four-over par after shooting a 75 in the final round. Saltiel finished in seventh place.

Emily Romkey came back for round two and shaved three strokes off her round one score to shoot a 74 and end the invitational nine-over par. Romkey ended the day tied for the 17th spot.

Brooklyn Terry finished 11-over par after shooting a 78 in the final round and ended her outing in 19th place.

The Montevallo “B” squad wrapped up the day with an eighth place finish and shot a combined 624 as a team through two rounds.

Morgan Prickett finished in 20th place and was 12-over par for the invitational.

Raegan Thompson ended the day 14-over par and tied for 26th place.

Lacy Sheldon shot a 16-over 158 through two rounds to finish tied for 30th place.

Jessica Howard finished tied for 34th place after shooting 18-over par for the invitational.

Alexis Berger rounded out the roster for the Falcons with a 20-over par and finished tied for 36th place.

The Falcons will next compete in the UNC Pembroke Invitational on September 24-25 at Hilton Head, South Carolina.
