The 2016 All-Milesplit Alabama Boys Outdoor Track and Field teams were released alongside the girls teams, and there were three boys who made the lists. Spain Park’s Daniel Nixon, Thompson’s Emmanuel Tait and Briarwood’s Ashton Domingue were all recognized for their achievements in the spring.

Nixon was the First Team selection in the 800-meter dash. The now-graduated Nixon won the 7A state meet with a time of 1:53.11, and then won the Flo Golden South on May 28 with an incendiary time of 1:51.64, which was the fastest time in the state this season in the event. Nixon then went on to compete in the Brooks PR Invitational, which was held in Renton, WA in June. Nixon, who is running college track at Mississippi State University, also placed second in the 400-meter dash at the 7A state meet with a time of 48.52, which was the 10^th-fastest time in the state in that event as well.

Tait came in as the Second Team selection in the 110-meter hurdles behind Trey Cunningham of Winfield, although that selection is arguable. Tait won the 7A 100-meter dash state title with a 10.93, won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.00 and won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 37.90. Tait competed in 20 races this outdoor season between those three events, and he won 17 of them. He finished his high school career with five individual state championships, and is the back-to-back state champion in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles in the 7A class.

Tait, who is now running his college track at Samford University, had the second-fastest 110-meter and 300-meter hurdle time in the state this season. His 13.88 110-meter time at the Mobile Challenge of Champions in April was second only to Cunningham, who ran a 13.35 at the AHSAA 3A Section 2 meet. His 37.68 300-meter time at the Homewood Invitational in March was second only to Kacey Spinks’ 37.56 time, which he ran in the 6A state finals. Also, Tait’s 10.72 100-meter dash time at the Over the Mountain Challenge in March was the 13^th-fastest time in that event of the season as well.

Domingue also was a Second Team selection in the javelin throw. Dominque, in his first year participating in track and field, got progressively better at the javelin, and won the 6A state title in the event with a monstrous throw of 190-9. That throw was the second-farthest toss of the season, behind only Will Macoy of Vestavia, who threw a 193-8.5 at the 7A Section 3 meet.
