CHELSEA – The second annual Chelsea Park Elementary School prayer walk will take place on Sunday, Aug 7 at 6 p.m.
This will be a time that teachers, staff and students can come together and pray about the upcoming school year.
“We just want the public and parents of the community to come together to help lift the teachers, staff and students up to the Lord to help them get through this school year safely,” event organizer Tiffany Bittner said.
Bittner, who is a mother of three kids that attend the school, started the event last year as a way to stand up for the kids and create an event for people that want to support the students and teachers that are about to embark on a long school year together.
Bittner will speak at the event along with The Church at Chelsea Westover Pastor, Danny Lovett.
Last year the prayer walk was held two weeks before school started so there were still people on vacation, but Bittner said this year she expects more people because it is taking place a couple of days before the school year begins.
During the event people will walk around the school and talk with teachers and staff as well as pray for each other and the 2016-17 school year.
“It’s our responsibility to support the teachers,” Bittner said. “If we don’t then we as parents won’t get what we want for our students out of the school year. The teachers look over our kids all year so it’s up to us to respect for that and show them how much we appreciate them.”
Meet the teacher will be held Aug. 4-5 for students attending Chelsea Park Elementary this year and the first day of school begins Aug. 9 for all students.
