COLUMBIANA – A woman who killed a fellow Alabama fan after an Iron Bowl loss has been sentenced to 173 months in prison.

Adrian Laroze Briskey, 31, of Fairfield was sentenced July 26 after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the shooting death of Michelle Lacette Shepherd at the Summerchase at Riverchase apartments on Nov. 30, 2013.

Briskey and Shepherd got into an argument following Auburn’s 34-28 win over the Crimson Tide. According to police, the argument moved outside and turned into a physical altercation.

According to court documents, Briskey shot Shepherd with a Bersa .380 caliber handgun. Shepherd, a mother of three, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s sister, Neketa Shepherd, who claimed to have witnessed the argument and ensuing altercation, previously said Briskey was upset Shepherd was joking after Alabama’s defeat and didn’t appear to be a true Crimson Tide fan.

Hoover Police arrested Briskey, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a Class B felony, on April 15.

According to the sentencing, Briskey must also pass random drug screens and alcohol screens; pay restitution to be determined by the state; pay all court costs; pay all medical expenses incurred in jail; $50 to the Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund; avoid initiating contact with Shepherd’s family; and pay a $750 bail bond fee.
