ALABASTER – This Saturday, the Alabaster CityFestwill host the fourth annual 5K fun run.
Jamia Alexander-Williams, an Arts Council member, has the baton this year to head the 5K run.

“I was the woman behind the woman at the first initial 5K run, and now this year,
I am proud and honored to be manning this event for the Arts Council,” Alexander- Williams said.

“It is all about giving back to the community,” she added. “The Alabaster Arts Council does a great job encouraging the arts and music programs by donating money to the schools’ programs.”

Recently, the Arts Council donated funds to an art teacher at Thompson High School to do a summer camp for her kids. The money from CityFest vendors and the registration fees from the 5K race help to fund many programs.

This year’s prizes for the race are donated by Dick’s Sporting Goods, headed up by Matthew Edgeworth who is the Community Marketing Manager for the Alabama/Florida panhandle.

The winners of the CityFest 5K
will receive Dick’s Sporting Goods gift certificates and medals. There will be door prizes given as well.

The race will kick-off at 8 a.m. at
the Larry Simmons Stadium behind Thompson Intermediate School and will be on a certified course ending at the Buck Creek Trail area.

from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Thompson Intermediate School gym. Late registration is June 4 at 7 a.m.
