HELENA–With the school year coming to a close, Helena Elementary School students are eagerly awaiting summer, but before school lets out, the students had one more fun-filled day on Monday, May 23.
HES students spent the majority of the day outside in the sun for the schools end of the year field day event known as H-Day.
The kindergarten through second grade students participated in a variety of outdoor activities and games with superhero-villain themes.
Students participated in games such as lasso the villain, 50-yard-dash, tug-of-war villains v. superheroes, kryptonite clean up, superhero training, Gotham City build, Batman bowling and more.
After a full morning of activities in the sun, the elementary school students got a nice surprise from their older peers as the Helena High School class of 2016 visited the school for the inaugural senior walk.
Dressed in caps and gowns, many of the HHS seniors walked the same halls they had walked more than a decade prior as they received applause and high-fives from HES students.
The majority of the seniors gave their younger peers much of the same advice such as always do your best and focus on making good grades.
“My advice to you would be to always do your best and strive to be the best person you can be,” said HHS senior Michael Ingram.
The day was also special for teachers as they saw many of the same students they taught year’s prior and they took time to pose for pictures with the soon-to-be graduates.
