CHELSEA – The Chelsea Planning Commission approved a rezoning request for a property that will house mini-storage buildings following a public hearing at an April 25 meeting.
The request, from Eddie Lumpkin, involved a 36-acre parcel of land located at U.S. 280 and Shelby County 440 being rezoned from Agricultural-Residential to Commercial as Lumpkin plans to build mini-storage buildings on one side of the property.
“The first phase of what we’d like to do is self-storage units,” said Jonathan Denton on behalf of Lumpkin during the hearing. “We will be starting on the easternmost side of the property, on the Chelsea General Store side.”
In other business, the Commission approved the final plat for The Village at Polo Crossings Sector II submitted by Carr & Associates Engineers Inc.
“It is in substantial agreement with the preliminary plat,” City Engineer Keith Hager said of the final plat, noting it meets the city’s requirements.
The Commission also approved the final plat for Chesser Reserve Phase II and a preliminary plat for Chelsea Park 14th Sector, which contains 35 lots.
The Chelsea Planning Commission meets the last Monday of every month at 6 p.m.
