INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Montevallo women’s golf team has earned its first-ever berth in the NCAA Division II South Super Regional Tournament in program history.

Montevallo earned the No. 6 seed in the South Super Regional Tournament, which will be held May 2-4 at Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, Florida. The University of West Florida will serve as the host of the super region tournament.

Junior Elaine Wood will be competing in the super region tournament for the third time in her playing career after qualifying as an individual in her first two seasons at Montevallo. Junior Arin Eddy is making her second appearance after qualifying as an individual last season.

The Falcons were ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA Division II South Region rankings leading into the postseason. Montevallo is also ranked No. 4 nationally in NCAA Division II in GolfStat’s Relative Rankings.

Montevallo captured the team championship at three events this season, including the Full Moon Invitational, the Cougar Classic and the Dancing Rabbit Invitational.

Wood leads the Falcons with two individual titles at the Full Moon Invitational and Cougar Classic. The Spanish Fort native has posted seven top-10 finishes and five top-5 finishes this season and owns a Peach Belt Conference leading 74.1 stroke average.

Eddy is second in the Peach Belt Conference with her 75.7 stroke average and owns six top-10 finishes and four top-5 finishes on the year.

Both Wood and Eddy finished in the top five in individual standings at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament while leading the Falcons to a third-place finish in the championship event.

Senior Morgan Natale has posted two top-10 finishes this season, while juniors Emily Romkey and Kirstie Saltielhave registered one top-10 finish each.

The Falcons are one of three Peach Belt Conference teams included in the NCAA Division II South Super Regional Tournament field. The field also includes six Sunshine State Conference teams, two Gulf South Conference teams and one Conference Carolinas team.

The top three teams, along with the top three individuals not on an advancing team, from each super regional tournament will advance to the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship.

The NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship will be held May 18-21 at Common Ground Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado. The championship will be part of the NCAA Division II Championships Festival, with Metropolitan State University of Denver and the Denver Sports Commission serving as the hosts.
