ALABASTER – For the fourth-straight year, Alabaster residents will have several opportunities this month to beautify their city and get a jumpstart on spring cleaning through the city’s Clean Sweep program.
The program, which began in 2013 as a result of efforts by Ward 3 City Councilman Stacy Rakestraw, offers multiple events aimed at cleaning the city and allowing residents to get rid of unwanted items.
The Clean Sweep program will kick off on April 9 as litter pickup crews will spread out across the city to clean up along the city’s roadways from 8-11 a.m.
Litter crews will again work to beautify the city’s thoroughfares on April 16 from 8-11 a.m. All litter crews will be escorted by police officers as they work along the roadsides.
The month’s major event will come on April 23, when the city hosts its free electronic recycling/destruction and paper shredding event from 9 a.m.-noon at Thompson Intermediate School off Alabama 119.
