PELHAM—Kindergarten through sixth grade students interested in participating in Pelham’s youth football or youth cheerleading leagues can register between May 2 and June 3.

The Jefferson-Shelby Youth Football League will consist of three junior and two senior divisions, and each team will play eight regular season games followed by the playoffs.

“(We’re) always excited, and hopefully we’ll have some new kids come out and learn the game of football and cheerleading,” said Parks and Recreation Director Billy Crandall.

Registration fees for football and cheerleading will be $160. For cheerleading, this fee includes a cheer camp at Pelham High School and a cheerleading uniform, which includes the top and bottom only.

Other items, such as bloomers, pompoms, shoes, socks, megaphones, hair bows, undershirts and any other team gear is not included in the registration fee.

For football, the registration fees include a jersey and integrated pants with pads already built-in. Mouthpieces, eye shields, girdles, cleats and any other team gear are not included.

Each team’s schedule will be included on the Jefferson-Shelby Youth Football League’s website, and the scores of the games will be added throughout the season.

Registration for football and cheerleading participants will be Saturday, May 14 and May 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pelham Parks and Recreation office. To register after the two Saturdays, parents must set up an appointment by calling the park office at 620-6426.

All registration forms are available at the park office, and no mail-in registration forms will be accepted. The final day to register for football and cheerleading is Friday, June 3 by 5 p.m.

All interested head coaches must get a volunteer form from the park office and submit it back to the office by May 21 at noon.
