CHELSEA – The front lawn of the Chelsea Public Library became the site of an Easter egg hunt for about 18 children on March 23.

Toting their Easter baskets, the children trailed out of the library after their weekly Tot Spot story time with Library Director Dana Polk in search of brightly colored plastic eggs filled with candy the Easter Bunny hid in the grass.

Each child was allowed to find and take 10 eggs home.

The library has held an Easter egg hunt for the last four years, after relocating from Chelsea City Hall to the Crane House in 2011.

“It’s always a good getting-to-know time for the kids as well as the parents,” Polk said of the event.

Story time consisted of Polk reading two books and then leading the children in a “Bunny Hop” song and dance.

Several of the children thanked Polk after the egg hunt.

“You’re welcome,” Polk said to one child. “I’m so glad you came today.”

Claire Thompson said, “Happy Easter.”

Tot Spot meets every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and is geared toward children ages 1-4.

The library will host a New to Homeschooling Workshop at Chelsea City Hall on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is free, but attendees may make a donation to offset printing and snack costs.

A Homeschooling through High School workshop will be held this summer.
