Students earn praise for Microsoft certifications

ALABASTER – Several Thompson High School students may have promising futures in the information technology field after they earned a plethora of high-level Microsoft Office certifications through the school’s computer science classes.
During its March 14 meeting, the Alabaster Board of Education honored several THS students for earning certifications with applications far beyond their high school classes.
THS computer science principles teacher Dr. Duana Shears nominated the students for the recognition after the kids completed rigorous classwork demonstrating their proficiency with using programs required for most jobs.
The following students earned the following certifications:
-Benjamin Peete had one of the highest scores in the state for operating Excel 2013.
-Katherine Mandy has earned Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, Word Expert and has earned Microsoft Office Specialist Master status.
-Kellen Leach has earned Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Word Expert and has been named a Microsoft Office Specialist Master.
-Caitlyn Constance has earned Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Word Expert and has been named a Microsoft Office Specialist Master.
-Will Adams has earned Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Word Expert and has been named a Microsoft Office Specialist Master.
-Maury Milstead has earned Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Word Expert, Excel Expert and has been named a Microsoft Office Specialist Master.
