Chelsea girls steamrolls Altamont

Freshman Haley Greene led the Hornets with three goals in a game that saw Chelsea control the pace and flow from the outset.  Chelsea got on the board in the second minute of the game with a goal by freshman Lexie Duca, which came off an assist from Madeline Guillen.  Chelsea went on to score five more goals in the half en route to a 7-0 win.  Chelsea keepers Elizabeth Batton-Pate and Kh’Lari South combined in goal for the shutout.

Chelsea boys drop tight game to Altamont

After falling behind 0-2, Chelsea got a goal back late when Lando Nichols pumped one past the Altamont keeper to bring the Hornets back to a goal behind, but the Knights back line held over the final minutes of the game as Chelsea dropped to 7-7-3 with a 2-1 loss.

Oak Mountain boys continue scorching regular season

With a 5-0 win over Thompson on Tuesday, Oak Mountain moved to 15-0-2 on the season and is in complete control of the top seat in Alabama soccer currently. Hunter Holstad and Jackson Murphy both scored before halftime before Holstad added two more goals in the second half while Murphy added another as well for the Eagles. Oak Mountain has outscored opponents 50-9 through 17 games this season.

Pack leads Lady Eagles past Thompson

Julia Pack scored once in the opening half and twice in the second half on Tuesday night as the Lady Eagles moved to 13-1-1 on the season with a 3-0 win. The Lady Eagles have scored less than three goals just three times in 15 games.

Briarwood rolls John Carroll Catholic

The Lions have not lost on the soccer pitch since dropping a 3-0 loss to Bayside Academy on Feb. 13. Since that time, Briarwood is 8-0-1 since that loss, with the most recent win coming via a 4-0 decision at John Carroll Catholic on Tuesday. The Lions moved to 9-2-2 with the win, and are currently the No. 5 team in the state in class 6A.

Spain Park boys beat Helena 3-2

Victor Ibanez got on the end of a through ball from Eduardo Medina, which slipped past the Helena goalkeeper to give Spain Park a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of their game on Tuesday night. The Jags added to the lead in the 34th minute when Reece Eberhardt followed up a shot by Adrian Castro, putting away the rebound to make it 2-0. In the second half, the Jaguars sealed the win in the fifteenth minute when Dico Bradley played a through ball behind the Huskies back line, which Ibanez was able to reach. Ibanez touched the ball past the keeper and quickly served the ball in front of the goal, which Davis Osborne was able to play into the net for the final tally for the Jags. The Huskies came back in the final 20 minutes to score two goals, but the Jags held on for the 3-2 win.

Lady Jags drop first game of the season

Prior to Spain Park’s game against Vestavia on Tuesday night, the Lady Jags had not lost a single game all season, and were 13-0-1 through 14 games. The streak ended against the 7A No. 2 Lady Rebels however, as Spain Park fell 3-0. The Lady Jaguars are currently the No. 3 ranked team in the state in 7A, and has outscored opponents 44-9 through 15 games this year.

Pelham boys smack Jemison

The Panthers notched seven goals in a Tuesday game with Jemison as Pelham moved to 8-7-2 on the season. After losing the previous three games in the Metro Tournament to Homewood, Thompson and Spain Park, it was important for Pelham to bounce back in a positive way, and the Panthers did just that with the 7-0 win.
