PELHAM— A structure fire in Pelham’s Olde Weatherly subdivision late March 18 resulted in the total loss of a home off Windsor Lane, according to Pelham Fire Chief Danny Ray.

Ray said they responded to a call about 10 minutes before midnight March 18 after the home’s only occupant was woken up by the smoke detectors.

“It was pretty much totally involved when our folks got on the scene,” Ray said. “It had one of those long, long driveways, so we had to hand lay hoses up to the house.”

Pelham and Alabaster fire departments were on the scene until about 3 a.m. March 19. The occupant of the residence was not harmed during the fire, according to Ray.

He said the cause of the structure fire is still under investigation.
