Helena man arrested for menacing and possession

COLUMBIANA–A 33-year-old Helena man remains in the Shelby County Jail facing charges of domestic violence reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and a third-degree domestic violence menacing charge after he allegedly discharged a firearm near two victims while unlawfully possessing the controlled substance alprazolam.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mickey James Thomas, who lists an address on the 200 block of Jenkins Circle in Helena, on March 1 and charged him with one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, two menacing charges, third-degree domestic violence menacing and a reckless endangerment domestic violence charge.
According to Thomas’ arrest warrants, on Feb. 29, Thomas allegedly “By physical action, intentionally place or attempt to place victims in fear of imminent serious physical injury by discharging a firearm near/toward the victims.”
Thomas was allegedly in possession of alprazolam at or near Helena that he “Obtained by fraud by the alteration of a prescription or written order or by the concealment of a material fact or by the use of a false name or giving a false address.”
As of March 8, Thomas remains in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $10,000.
