The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested Donnie Isaiah Rogers, who lists an address in the Smitherman subdivision in Montevallo, on Feb. 26 and charged him with two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, criminal conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and second-degree criminal mischief.

According to Task Force Commander Lt. Clay Hammac, the Task Force was following up on an investigation in Calera “resulting from community complaints of suspected drug activity.”

Hammac said the investigation led to Rogers, and said Task Force investigators intercepted Rogers on the night of Feb. 25. When Task Force members attempted to stop Rogers, “he unsuccessfully attempted to elude investigators by ramming an investigator’s vehicle with his vehicle.”

Task Force members then apprehended Rogers at the scene and charged him with the crimes.

“Shelby County Drug Enforcement investigators also seized over $5,300 in cash from Rogers, as well as fentanyl, the deadly drug that is now being used by drug dealers to “cut heroin” leading to an alarming increase in overdose deaths,” read a Task Force press release.

According to Shelby County court records, Rogers pleaded guilty to an unlawful distribution of a controlled substance crime in December 2015, and was serving a two-year probation sentence when he was arrested on Feb. 26.

According to court records, Rogers allegedly has been involved in distributing heroin, marijuana and synthetic marijuana. As of Feb. 26, Rogers did not yet have a future court date listed.
