HELENA–The Thompson Lady Warriors used a strong second half and stout defense to outlast the Helena Lady Huskies 52-35 on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Thompson got into some foul trouble in the first half and Helena was able to take advantage but could never break out with a large lead.

Helena and Thompson went into the half tied at 22.

Thompson head coach Josh Golden said he thought his team played much better in the second half when the foul situation was no longer an issue.

“I thought we played a lot better when we changed defenses and that helped us,” said Golden. “In the first half I thought we came out strong, we just got in foul trouble so we played a lot of people out of position and had three different players with two fouls and we kind of had to just weather the storm. Once we got back to full strength in the second half it was much better.”

Helena had no answer for Thompson’s Jordan LeNoir who finished the game as the leading scorer with 25 points.

The Lady Warriors would outscore Helena 30-13 in the second half and took advantage of numerous missed shots and turnovers by the Lady Huskies.

Helena’s Jordan Jones and Jenn Brown both led the way with 14 points each for the Lady Huskies in a losing effort.
