The Alabama Nursing Home Association announced Chris Schmidt, owner of Shelby Ridge Health and Rehab in Alabaster, has been chosen by the American Health Care Association as a member of the 2010-2011 class of Future Leaders in Long-Term Care.

Schmidt served as the facility’s administrator from 2005 until 2010. Schmidt is also the owner of the Nursing Assistant Academy located in Alabaster, which trains students to become certified nursing assistants.

Schmidt is one of 32 people from across the nation selected to participate in the year-long training program, which covers the latest theories in quality management, customer satisfaction and leadership.

In July, he will participate in AHCA’s “Future Leaders of Long Term Care in America” symposium in Washington, D.C., which kicks-off the year-long program.
