ALABASTER – When Alabaster residents return home from the holidays, they will see a change in the city’s garbage and recycling schedule, and will be able to place both receptacles on the curb on the same days.
City leaders have been working with Alabaster’s contracted waste collection company, Advanced Disposal, in an effort to change the weekly trash and recycling pickup schedule, said City Manager George Henry.
Currently, Advanced Disposal collects trash on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and collects all recycling on Wednesdays.
Beginning on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, the company will begin collecting trash and recycling on the same day, and will expand its garbage collection to all five weekdays.
“Those who have their garbage day changing to Wednesday were mailed a card directly,” Henry said. “No more taking cans to curb on separate days.”
Henry said the city soon will post maps detailing the new trash and recycling pickup schedules to its website at Cityofalabaster.com.
