Larry Richard Rollan Sr., “Chief Rollan”, age 64, of Alabaster/Helena, passed away Friday, Dec. 4.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Rollan and Hazel Duncan Wallace of Alabaster, his sister, Patricia Davis, and brother, H. Ray Rollan, also of Alabaster.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elaine S. Rollan, and sons, Larry Richard Rollan Jr. (Kym), David Rollan, and Chris Rollan (Amy) of Helena. He is also survived by his sister, Teresa Overton (Johnny) of Thorsby; grandchildren, Jamie, Mallory, Anna, Molly, Connor, Gabby, and Matthew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chief Rollan dedicated his entire life to serving the community of Alabaster as an honorable police officer and a police chief. In most recent years, after retirement, he was a sworn police officer with Helena Police Department as a part-time detective. Chief Rollan was a lifetime member of the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police as well as the Shelby County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 41. Chief Rollan was also a Master Mason in Buck Creek Masonic Lodge 410.
Chief Rollan’s visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 at the Helena United Methodist Church followed by his celebration of life service at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Les Hughes and Pastor Tommy Morgan will be officiating his service followed by burial in the Helena City Cemetery.
