Local private high schools among best in state

Seven county private high schools were recently ranked among the top in the state, according to national ranking website, Niche.com. Indian Springs School, Briarwood Christian School and Westminster School at Oak Mountain were ranked among the top 25 in the state. Cornerstone Christian School, Evangel Classical Christian School Kingwood Christian School and Coosa Valley Academy were also named on Niche.com’s Best Private High Schools in Alabama list.
Indian Springs School topped the list, taking the number one spot. The school, located on Woodward Drive in Indian Springs Village, is a private boarding school. Niche.com gave Indian Springs School top marks in best educational outcomes, and ranked the school high in academics.
Briarwood Christian School, located on Cahaba Valley Road in North Shelby, came in at 14th on the list. The school was granted high marks for academics and educational outcomes by Niche.com.
Westminster School at Oak Mountain was ranked 18th in the state by Niche.com. Located on Cahaba Valley Trace, the school was noted for its positive community reviews.
Rounding out the list were Cornerstone Christian School at No. 54, Evangel Classical Christian School at No. 71, Kingwood Christian School at No. 77 and Coosa Valley Academy at No. 97.
According to Niche.com, the list was compiled through a “comprehensive assessment” of student experience, data from government and public sources and “Niche’s own proprietary data.” The schools were ranked based on academics, student culture and diversity and survey responses from students and parents.
“A high ranking indicates that the school is an exceptional academic institution with a diverse set of high-achieving students who rate their experience very highly,” the Niche.com website read.
