COLUMBIANA – Patrons at Pa Paw’s restaurant on Thursday afternoon will notice something doesn’t seem quite right.

The servers delivering food to the tables will seem inexperienced at best and completely unqualified at worst. Still, the servers will ask patrons to tip as best they can. They’ll gladly take donations, too.

It’s all for a good cause.

Columbiana Mayor Allan Lowe and city council members will serve food between noon and 1 p.m. to raise money to help those affected by last month’s tornadoes.

“I can guarantee them that it will not be the best table waiting that they’ve ever experienced,” Lowe said. “But I can also guarantee them that their tips will be going to a real need. One of these days we will be on the receiving end of generosity, and we want to know that we helped folks in need when we could.”

All tips collected will be given to the Shelby Baptist Association to distribute to storm victims.

It’s the second week in a row owner Wayne “Pa Paw” Raia has opened for charity the doors of his restaurant, located at 21270 Alabama 25.

Last week, Lowe, Sheriff Chris Curry, Chief Deputy John Samaniego, state Rep. Mike Hill, R-Columbiana, and Capt. Ken Burchfield donned yellow T-shirts Pa Paw designed as they took orders, delivered drinks and served food to local masses.
