Shelby County resident and former U.S. Army sergeant Noah Galloway, who is fresh off a successful appearance on “Dancing with the Stars,” will again star on national television in 2016, he announced on Nov. 18.
Galloway, who finished third on the 20th season of Dancing with the Stars earlier this year, will star as an advisor on the new show “American Grit” on Fox next year.
“Myself with three highly experienced combat veterans will work together with 16 men and women to face a variety of military and survival-themed challenges,” Galloway wrote in a Nov. 18 Facebook post.
American Grit is a new 10-episide competition series starring World Wrestling Entertainment star John Cena, according to the Fox website. Through the competition, 16 “of the country’s toughest men and women” will be split up into four teams, and will work together to overcome a gamut of military and survival challenges.
“Cena and an elite group of mentors from the nation’s most exclusive military units will push these civilians beyond their limits,” read the show’s description on the Fox website.
Galloway will not be a contestant on the show, but instead will serve in a group of mentors called “The Cadre” alongside Rorke Denver, Tawanda “Tee” Hanible and Nick “The Reaper” Irving.
“These real-life heroes, who represent diverse backgrounds and top branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, will impart their first-hand knowledge and experience to help the competitors work together as teams to surmount near impossible mental and physical challenges,” read the show’s description.
The four teams will work together – with the help of the mentors – to overcome each obstacle. Only the first team to finish together will be safe from elimination each week.
“With up to a million dollars of prize money at stake, this is the ultimate test of strength, grit, the human spirit and most importantly, teamwork,” read the Fox website.
