Attempted murder suspect pleads guilty to misdemeanor

COLUMBIANA – A 56-year-old Alabaster man who was originally charged with attempted murder following an early August domestic dispute will spend the next two years on probation after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in mid-October.

The Alabaster Police Department arrested David Timothy Harrison, who lists an address on Honeysuckle Lake, on Aug. 8 and charged him with one felony count of attempted murder and one driving under the influence of alcohol traffic citation. The charge came after

At the time of Harrison’s arrest, Alabaster Police Chief Curtis Rigney said the department received a call reporting a domestic disturbance at about 10:15 p.m. at Harrison’s residence.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered Harrison, who was allegedly intoxicated at the time, had shot at his wife before fleeting the scene, Rigney said. The victim was not injured in the altercation.

Officers discovered Harrison driving his vehicle at about 10:30 p.m. on Mission Hills Road near Shady Oak Lane, and took him into custody. Rigney said the suspect was intoxicated at the time of the arrest, leading to the drunken driving charge.

Through a plea agreement with prosecutors, Harrison’s Class A felony attempted murder charge was reduced to a misdemeanor third-degree domestic violence – reckless endangerment charge.

After pleading guilty to the domestic violence and drunken driving charges on Oct. 14, Harrison was sentenced to two years of probation, which will be supervised by Shelby County Community Corrections. While on probation, he must take and pass random drug and alcohol tests, complete a substance abuse treatment program and surrender his driver’s license.
