HOOVER—Inverness Vineyard Church is celebrating Halloween a little early this year. On Oct. 28, the church is holding the Fall Mash, a fun evening of games, music, food and, of course, candy for the whole family.
Held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church, the Fall Mash will include a number of fun activities, such as a cakewalk, a maze and bean bag toss. There will also be live music and hotdogs for guests to enjoy.
“The whole family can come, (and) we’re hoping the whole family will want to stay,” IVC Children’s Pastor Sheri Daggett said, encouraging parents to enjoy the time with their children.
Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and participate in a costume parade.
In addition to the Fall Mash, members of Inverness Vineyard Church are also participating in Light the Night, a group of several block parties hosted by Inverness Vineyard Church families across the county.
“Instead of having something at the church on Halloween, families are having block parties in the community,” Daggett said. “They can invite church members and also the community.”
Daggett, and her husband Jason, will host a Light the Night block party on Oct. 24 at Brierfield Ironworks State Park. Four other families will also host block parties on Halloween in Bluff Park, Alabaster, Pelham and Avondale.
“Our church body is spread out very far,” Daggett said. “We thought it make more sense to be out in our communities (on Halloween) rather than huddled together.”
