HOOVER—Hoover Board of Education member Craig Kelley will represent the Hoover City School System at the Alabama Association of School Board’s annual Delegate Assembly on Dec. 3.
Kelley was unanimously selected during a special-called Hoover BOE meeting on Oct. 16. Hosted at the Hyatt Regency at the Riverchase Galleria, the AASB’s annual meeting covers hot issues and policies and allows board members from across the state to share ideas.
“Having an advocate for the city of Hoover is always important,” Hoover BOE President Derrick Murphy said.
Hoover BOE Vice President Stephen Presley was named the alternate delegate in the event Kelley cannot attend the meeting.
The Hoover BOE also discussed participation in an AASB program, which determines Medicaid reimbursements for services offered by the school system, such as hearing and vision screenings and occupational and physical therapy.
The board approved an amendment to the participant district agreement, and Hoover City Schools Chief Financial Officer said the school system could see “proportional or slightly better reimbursement.”
