A last-second, game-ending field goal knocked Montevallo from the ranks of the unbeaten a week ago, and subsequently knocked the Bulldogs out of the regular season rankings a week after they showed up at No. 9 in the 4A poll, the teams first appearance in the regular season poll since 1999. Montevallo still received two votes in the 4A poll this week, but the only remaining top 10 team in the county is Spain Park.

The Jaguars have now shut out four opponents this year. Prior to this season, the most shutouts in a season Spain Park had accrued was two. The Jaguars are still the No. 2 team in class 7A behind the only undefeated team left in 7A, Bob Jones. Spain Park closes out the season with a game at Oak Mountain before back-to-back home games to close the regular season against Mountain Brook and Bessemer City before the playoffs start.

The only other team to receive any votes in the county was Montevallo with two. The Bulldogs are off this week, but will have a chance to potentially jump right back in to the rankings when they travel to currently undefeated and No. 9 Northside in an area showdown.
