Chelsea wins two over county teams
Chelsea defeated Calera 20-25, 25-23, 15-7 and Briarwood 30-28, 25-17 on Sept. 29 to get two big tri-match wins over two county teams. Lexie Riggins had 34 digs, 21 kills, four blocks and four aces; Jordan Legg had 38 digs, 19 assists and seven kills; and Taylor Hackett had 28 digs, 15 assists and seven kills to lead Chelsea.
Oak Mountain beats Thompson in comeback effort
The Lady Eagles continued their impressive season with a four-set win over 7A counterpart Thompson, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-14 to improve to 23-11 on the season. Oak Mountain was once again led by a host of sophomores as Cameron Rueschenberg had 19 kills, 17 digs, two assists and an ace while Kathryn Beard had 23 assists, four digs and an ace and Torie Denkers had 10 kills and two blocks to help lead the way for Oak Mountain. Milea Ray had 16 kills and 16 digs to lead the way for Thompson.
Coosa Valley beats Cornerstone in in-county matchup
Coosa Valley Academy continued its impressive 2015 campaign as the Lady Rebels advanced to 21-6 on the season with a three-set win over county foe Cornerstone 25-19, 25-11, 25-19. Kalei Merrifield had seven kills and two aces while Allison Craft has six kills and 12 digs and Sarah Warren had six aces and 13 assists to lead Coosa Valley.

Spain Park falls to Oak Mountain
The Lady Jaguars fell to 11-18 on the season while Oak Mountain won its second match in two days to improve to 24-11 in a three-set win 25-19, 25-15, 25-11. Savannah Francis had six kills, three aces and nine digs for the Lady Eagles while Cameron Rueschenberg has 14 kills, three aces and 13 digs as well.
Chelsea beats Ramsay in thriller
The Lady Hornets joined Oak Mountain and won its second game in as many days with a thrilling five-set win over Ramsay to move to 14-11 on the season. Chelsea won the match 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 26-18, 15-10. Lexie Riggins had 11 kills, 18 digs, three aces and two blocks while Jordan Legg contributed 20 digs, 11 assists and six kills as well.
Briarwood falls to Homewood in five sets
The Lady Lions found themselves on the wrong side of a hard fought five-set match on Sept. 30 against Homewood. Briarwood fell 22-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-20, 15-7 and was led by the efforts of Anna Donohue, who had nine assists and seven digs, and Sophie Muir-Taylor, who had six kills, four digs and three blocks.
Oct. 1
Thompson picks up area win
The Lady Warriors got a key area win over Tuscaloosa County on Oct. 1 to move to 12-16 on the season via a 26-24, 24-26, 25-23, 25-21 four-set victory. Milea Ray once again led the way for Thompson with 18 kills and 27 digs while Jenni Beth Cox also had 35 assists and 13 digs as well for Thompson.
Pelham falls in tri-match
Pelham was beat in tri-match play by in-county foe Oak Mountain in three sets, 26-28, 25-22, 15-5. Oak Mountain then proceeded to turn around and beat Clay-Chalkville in three sets as well 25-11, 22-25, 15-8 to advance to 26-11.
