PELHAM— Residents in Pelham will most likely not notice the 3-cent increase in their garbage and recycling rates effective Nov. 1. This increase of about .2 percent is based on the change in the Consumer Price Index for urban costumers.
“The CPI has gone very, very little over the last year,” said City Council President Rick Hayes.
The total minimum rate adjustment increase equals about 36 cents per year.
Resident I type services will increase from $9.78 to $9.81, Resident II will increase from $15.80 to $15.84, Resident III will increase from $20.98 to $21.02, Resident IV will increase from $26.16 to $26.22 and Resident V will increase from $38.70 to $38.78.
The city council also,
- Declared October Domestic Violence Awareness month.
- Granted a non-exclusive right of way use to Southern Light LLC, a fiber optic system provider.
- Heard the first reading of an ordinance to modify the fee for issuing business licenses. The fee would increase from $10 to $12.
