PELHAM— Oak Mountain State Park is revving up for its first Bikes on the Beach event Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park’s terrace.

The event showcases motorcycles in a family friendly environment with food trucks, music, raffles, prizes and more. After wrapping up at 2 p.m., awards will be given out at 3 p.m.

“Everyone who’s heard about it is really excited, which just makes us even more excited,” said Oak Mountain State Park event coordinator Anna Jones Frew. “We are so thrilled to offer this new opportunity to a new group.”

Frew said there will be first and second place awards for each of the three classes: Sport, Cruise and Custom. First place winners receive a free two-night stay at Oak Mountain State Park’s campground, and second place winners are awarded with two free day passes to the park.

There will also be an overall best-in-show winner, chosen by the public, who will receive an Oak Mountain State Park “swag bag.”

Frew said there will be lawn games, such as corn hole and lawn golf, for kids and families to participate in.

Several people have already registered to show their bikes, according to Frew. Harley-Davidson, Barber Motorsports and the Triple Nickels will also showcase some motorcycles.

“So far we’ve had a really good response,” Frew said. “Obviously, Barber Motorsports was like, ‘Absolutely yes…’ We just want people to come and have a good time.”

As it’s the first year for the event, Frew said she isn’t sure how big the event will be, but she estimates about 75-100 people attending.

Registration for Bikes on the Beach is $10, and vendors can sign up for $20. Frew said the event is open to all vendors.

“We’re really passionate about reaching out to different user groups,” Frew said. “We are trying to think of things that are out of the ordinary and popular in other places and bring them to Oak Mountain.”
