ASHVILLE – From October 14, 2011 until the end of the 2014 season, Montevallo High School won six games total. After travelling to Ashville and shellacking the hapless host Bulldogs 58-0, Montevallo has won six games in 2015. Andrew Zow’s squad has certainly figured out something this season, as the Bulldogs from Montevallo are now averaging north of 40 points per game.

It took Montevallo some time to get on the board in this one, not scoring until quarterback Zac Oden found Ahmad Edwards for a five yard score with four minutes remaining in the first period. Oden found Edwards again just 13 seconds into the second quarter for a 62-yard touchdown pass, the first of four touchdowns the Bulldogs put up in the quarter. Kerry Mack scored on a 19-yard run before Oden found Edwards for two more scoring plays of 18 yards and 40 yards before the quarter was over. As time expired in the first half, Diego Martinez connected on a 32-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs a 38-0 lead at the break.

Mack scored again less than two minutes into the second half on a 27-yard run. Undreaz Lilly got on the board in the third quarter as well with a 30-yard run with just over four minutes remaining in the third quarter, and Caleb Cottingham rounded out the scoring on the first play of the fourth quarter with a 27-yard run to give Montevallo the big 58-0 victory on the road.

Oden was 10-16 for 222 yards and four scores on the night, all of which were to Edwards, who caught five balls for 136 yards and four scores. Mack led the way for Montevallo on the ground on this night with 14 carries for 128 yards and two scores while Lilly had 89 yards and one touchdown on nine carries.

TreShawn Brown led the defensive effort for Montevallo with 11 tackles and an interception, while Hunter Nabors had a pick as well to go along with nine tackles, and Nick Norris had a fumble recovery along with eight tackles.

The Bulldogs are back on the road next Friday for their most important game of the season to date, against current 4A No. 9 and region foe West Blocton.
