Eugene “Gene” Mitchell, age 94, of Saginaw, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 2.
Eugene was a WWII veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division. He started Mitchell Concrete Pipe in 1956, which he passed on to his son in 1980. He was a member of Covenant Life Church in Pelham.
Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Nix Mitchell.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra M. Draper; son, Larry Mitchell (Sherry); grandchildren, Rachael Crutchfield (Tim), Justin Draper (Paige), Chel Mitchell (Susan) and Candacey Brown (Mark); nine great-grandchildren, ages 5-17; brother, Howard K. Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). His funeral service will commence at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera.
