CHELSEA – The Chelsea Business Alliance held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on July 16 at Pathway Pediatrics, a new children’s clinic in Chelsea.

A Sylacauga-based clinic, Pathway Pediatrics opened its second location at 398 Chesser Drive in Chelsea on June 25 and serves newborns and children up to age 18.

The staff includes co-owners Dr. Leslie Sawyer, a board-certified pediatrician, and Megan Moore, a certified physician assistant; Megan Epperson, a registered nurse and board-certified lactation consultant; and Dr. Alice Hardy, who joined the practice this month.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be here in Chelsea,” Moore said. “We know there’s a need here for pediatric services in Chelsea. We’re very excited.”

Along with typical pediatric care, Moore noted the clinic offers “extras,” including lactation services for breastfeeding mothers, medical-grade ear piercing and Moore’s experience as a registered dietitian.

“The city of Chelsea is proud that you are here,” Chelsea Mayor Earl Niven said. “Chelsea is a growing place. We are a family city. We emphasize the family in our government.”

Representatives from the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce attended the ceremony.

The 3,300-square-foot space features separate sick and well patient waiting rooms, a lactation lounge, two separate triage rooms and six exam rooms.

The Chelsea clinic is open six days a week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.
