Floyd Blankenship, age 95, of Alabaster, died Monday, July 13.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 16 at Camp Branch United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Phares officiating. Burial will follow in Nabors Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. before the service. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Bolton Funeral Home.
Mr. Blankenship was a WWII veteran, retired after 20 years with the Shelby County Highway Department and a member of Camp Branch United Methodist Church.
Mr. Blankenship is preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Blankenship and a son, Tommy Blankenship.
He is survived by his children, Gary Blankenship, Stanley Blankenship (Jan), Tanya Gunter (Bob), and Randy Blankenship (Terry); daughter-in-law, Debbie Blankenship; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Children’s Home or The American Cancer Society.
