Lady Chargers clinch area championship

The Cornerstone softball Lady Chargers escaped on March 26 with an 11-9 victory against Coosa Valley Academy. Five days later, on March 31, the Lady Chargers clinched the AISA Class A Region 1 Area 1 championship with a back-to-back shellacking of South Montgomery County Academy.
On March 26, the Lady Chargers came out on top with an 11-9 victory over cross-county rival Coosa Valley. Megan Garst threw seven complete innings and gave up four earned runs in the process. On the offensive side of the plate, Garst, Karis Kodadek, and LB Franklin each had two hits in three attempts while Lorin Rodgers and Tessa Neilsen each added a hit as well. With the win, the Lady Chargers season record moved to seven wins and four losses.
Just five days later, the Lady Chargers clinched the AISA Class A, Region 1, Area 1 championship by winning both games of a double header at South Montgomery County Academy. Garst again took the mound and pitched an incredible 13 total innings that saw her relinquish just two earned runs. During those 13 innings she also struck out 19 batters. Offensively, the Lady Chargers hung 24 runs on the board over the course of the two games. In the first game Audrey Davis led the team with a 3-3 performance from the plate, and every player in the lineup had at least one hit. In the second game, senior shortstop Rodgers went 4-4 from the plate while Kodadek and Garst each recorded three hits as well. The Lady Chargers improved their record to 9-4 on the season with the two wins.
