Locals place in top five in Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant

Two Shelby County residents placed in the top five in Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant on Sunday, March 8 at B.B. Comer Memorial High School Auditorium in Talladega.
Tiara Pennington of Helena was chosen first runner-up. She received a $1,000 cash scholarship, an $8,000 scholarship to Auburn University, an $8,000 scholarship to the University of Alabama, and a $14,000 scholarship to the University of Montevallo.
Mary Grace Long of Alabaster was chosen third runner-up. She received a $500 cash scholarship, an $8,000 scholarship to Auburn University, an $8,000 scholarship to the University of Alabama, and a $14,000 scholarship to the University of Montevallo.
The Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant is the only affiliate of the Miss Alabama Pageant, Inc. Contestants are residents of Alabama and between the ages of 13-17 who are not yet a senior in high school. The organization also features the Rising Star mentoring program for young girls ages 7-11.
