Kevin Todd, a McAdory High School standout in baseball and football (All-State in football and Jeffco MVP in baseball) was a popular student at the University of Montevallo on a baseball scholarship and graduated in 1993.

Eleven years ago, Todd went to Shades Valley High School as the head baseball coach where he comprised a 126-49 record from 2004-2009.

The team had play-off runs every year and a trip to the semi-finals in 2007.

“Most recently I was the defensive coordinator of football,” he said. “In three years the team comprised a 26-10 record and three straight play-off trips.”

In addition to coaching, Todd is also a teacher in Drivers Education and Physical Education.

One of Todd’s buddies had a sister named Kathie Hubbard. She and Kevin have now been married for over 20 years and have daughters Kaleigh, a freshman softball player at the University of South Alabama; Kennedy, a junior at McAdory High School who plays softball and cheers; and A.J., Todd’s 6-year-old son and fishing buddy. (Of course he also plays baseball).

A passion for kids and a competitive nature led Todd into his chosen profession. Todd will now be continuing his career as the new linebackers coach at Thompson High School.

“I look forward to being associated with Coach Mark Freeman who is a good friend and Christian man,” says Todd. “My goals for Thompson are the same as every place I’ve been and that is to win games and be successful in the classroom while creating quality young people both on and off the field. I can’t tell you how many games we will win here, but I can promise you that our young men will be winners and we will give our community something to be proud of.”

Todd says, “I feel very blessed to be in the Alabaster community and getting to work with great people. I cannot say enough about the administration, leadership and vision of Dr. Vickers as we move forward. I believe Thompson High School will be second to none in the coming years.”
