HELENA–A monthly meeting used to help parents learn practical tools for parenting will be held Wednesday, March 4, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Helena Intermediate School Cafeteria.
Helena Elementary and Helena Intermediate School counselors sponsor the informational meeting titled “Coffee Talks,” and parents of elementary school children are encouraged to attend.
HIS counselor Renita Matthews believes these meetings are a great resource for parents to get information to help their children.
“This gives the parents an opportunity to hear from a professional who can answer their concerns they’ve expressed with their children who are in school,” said Matthews. “They can answer questions and talk to parents on topics that are relevant to prepare their child for things they might face.”
Clinical Psychologist at Shelby Psychological Services Dr. Ellen Spence will be presenting at the meeting and the topic of discussion will be helping your child cope with anxiety and stress.
There will be free coffee for all participants and this will be the last meeting of the school year.
All parents are encouraged to sign in at the office upon arrival. RSVP is not required but appreciated by Monday, March 2.
Parents from the Helena area are welcome to attend even if they don’t have a child in a Helena school. Parents who home school their children may attend as well.
The topics of discussion are mainly geared towards the kindergarten-eight grade age group.
