It’s beginning to look a little less like Christmas everywhere you go. Icicle lights are melting away and Santa has returned to North Pole. All that’s left to do now is getting rid of that gorgeous smelling Christmas tree.

This year, in Shelby County, each community has a different plan for the disposal of Christmas trees.

In the cities of Alabaster, Calera, Columbiana and Montevallo there will be a curbside pick-up, on the regularly scheduled trash day. If there are any special requests or questions about the process, residents can contact their city hall.

If you are a resident of Helena and are enrolled in the city’s trash pick up program, there will be a curbside service on the regularly scheduled trash day. If a Helena resident is not enrolled in the program, they may call and request that their tree be picked up for a fee of $20.

In Hoover, there will be a curbside service, as well. Residents of Hoover may also recycle their tree at a drop-off site located across the street from 300 Municipal Lane.

The city of Pelham is also providing a curbside Christmas tree pick up service to its residents.

There will be no curbside service provided for the communities of Chelsea, Harpersville, Vincent, Westover and Wilsonville.

However, there are five drop-off points around the county for any residents who wish to recycle their tree. Trees can be taken to Heardmont Park on Cahaba Valley Road, Chelsea City Hall on Shelby County 47, the Ray Building off of Alabama 70 in Columbiana, Alabaster Propst Promenade on the west side of the Amstar 14 theatre and Pelham City Park located off of the U.S. 31 entrance in Pelham.
