Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday apprehended an escapee from the Alabama Department of Corrections, who who had locked himself in a home located in the 100 block of Lake Drive in the Okomo community in Shelby.

Sheriff’s deputies, after receiving information about the location of Glen Lamar Langston, 30, secured a perimeter around the residence and made multiple attempts to get Langston to exit.

When those attempts failed, an arrest team entered the home and apprehended Langston, read a press release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Once inside, investigators discovered illegal narcotics and evidence of a methamphetamine lab.

“Mr. Langston escaped from state custody only to return to a life of illegal drug use and endangering the lives of others. We are thankful for the concerned citizens that are aware of their surroundings and contact law enforcement when they witness illegal activity,” said Lt. Chris George of the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force, which assisted sheriff deputies.

Langston is charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance first degree and is being held under a $1.5 million bond. He is also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia with a $2,000 bond and chemical endangerment of a child where controlled substances are produced with a $15,000 bond.

Rachael Lynn Patterson, 34, of Shelby is charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and is being held under a $1.5 million bond. She is also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia with a $2,000 bond and chemical endangerment of a child where controlled substances are produced with a $15,000 bond, as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor with a $1,000 bond.

The case is under further investigation.
