The Mutts of Main First Christmas Day will be Saturday, Dec. 13 in Columbiana.
Sponsored by the Columbiana Merchants and Professionals Association to benefit the Shelby County Humane Society, the day will feature professional photographer Leigh Ann Langley who has donated her services to take photos of your pets with Santa in his sleigh for a suggested $25 donation to the Shelby County Humane Society.
From 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the corner of Main and College streets by the Christmas tree, Langley will make forever memories with your furry children.
At noon, all pets – please, on a lease – will parade down Main Street with Mr. and Mrs. Santa in their sleigh!
Mayor Stancil Handley had a request for a photo of all pets in the new Columbiana trolley and his idea will become reality. At the end of Main, the trolley will be parked in front of the Shelby County Museum and Archives (Old Courthouse) and the pets, held by their owners with their heads out the windows, will pose for a group shot with the trolley and courthouse in the background.
Last year at a CMPA event, Langley was taking pictures of Santa with children.
Leesa Nivens, owner of Gail’s Florist in Columbiana, brought her two pets and asked if Langley would take a photo of her precious doggies with their Christmas bows with Santa in his sleigh. She did and the picture was adorable, featured in this column.
Langley is known for her philanthropic work in Columbiana. Recently she offered her Halloween decorated home was opened to the public for a $5 suggested donation to the CMPA Scholarship Fund. Hundreds of dollars were raised to give back to Shelby County students.
Langley is known also for her love of her pets and thought of the picture with Niven’s dogs with Santa last year. The idea was born to donate her services for a benefit for the Shelby County Humane Society.
Langley met with Humane Society Executive Director Sara Shirley who was thrilled with the idea. The parade and trolley shot were added as the icing on the cake!
