VINCENT–A special presentation was held Thursday, Oct 30 at 6:30 p.m. prior to the Vincent High School football game to donate a piece of land located behind Vincent Middle High School.
White Rock Quarries, in collaboration with Shelby County Schools, acquired and donated the acreage located at 4600 Highway 83 to Vincent Middle High School. A collaborative effort with White Rock Quarries, the city of Vincent, Shelby County Government, and Shelby County Schools made the acquisition of the piece of property possible.
A continuing partnership had been forged with these entities and will include the town of Harpersville and Montgomery-based construction company, W.S. Newell. The property will be used to expand athletic facilities.
“The cooperation and hard work of all of these individuals along with former school administrators over the past three-five years has been instrumental to the success of today’s closing on this piece of property,” said VMHS Principal Michele Edwards. “The school is also very appreciative to Mr. Willard Johnson, former property owner, for his cooperativeness in this venture.”
Vincent Mayor, Ray McAlister, agreed. “The team is proud to see this project begin to come to fruition through these collective efforts,” said McAlister. “We are excited to see the improvements to the school in the future.”
