Deedra and Adam George have been in the alterations/embroidery/screenprint business since 2002.
“At this point, we are about much more than alterations, although that is our staple,” Adam George said. “Deedra is the alterations expert and she and her two assistants have over 50 years combined experience.”
In-store you can see and choose from monogrammable items such as baby blankets, bibs, clothing, pillows, bags and totes. Also visor hats and an extensive choice of T-shirt styles and colors.
Around town, work By George can be seen on the new decals on the Caboose; the banner for Sunshine ‘n Punkin’ catering and Frankie’s Restaurant banner.
They produced all the banners at the new ball field at the Community Center (recently voted Best Community Center in Shelby County) and work closely with Director Jason Powers providing team apparel for the youth leagues.
By George is a licensed vendor for the Helena Athletic Association and you can see and shop online for all Husky Nation products. They also donate 10 percent to HAA. Also now in the online store are Decoding Dyslexia T-shirts.
By George has produced products for the HHS and PHS Bands, HMS choir and the Helena Belles. They produce the embroidered City of Helena seals and badges for police and fire departments.
They also do vinyl transfers/signage. One room is dedicated to traditional silk screening with a rotating multiple screen set up. If a design contains white, it will be printed by this method.
Their state-of-the-art Brother printer is direct-to-garment print machine that can take a multi-color logo or design from computer to shirt in a matter of minutes; printing every color but white.
This machine can reproduce photos onto fabric and is a favorite of quilters to put family photos on quilt squares.
Deedra and Adam George have lived in Helena since 1994 and have a son, Andrew, 23 and daughter, Amy, an HHS junior who plays French horn and mellophone.
The business is located at 102 Gunner Lane (behind Frankies), and its website is Alterationsbygeorge.com.
