CALERA—Arlin Taylor Dutton, 19, was arrested Sept. 9 after allegedly threatening an officer and his family, according to court documents.

Calera police responded to a domestic call on Sept. 9 at approximately 8:35 p.m., when an officer arrested Dutton for disorderly conduct, Calera Police Chief Sean Lemley said.

Following the arrest, Dutton allegedly “repeatedly threatened to hurt the officer and the officer’s family,” Lemley said.

According to court documents, Dutton threatened the officer by allegedly stating that he would “beat his (expletive)” and was going to harm his family and also allegedly stated that he would “blow up the officers house.”

Dutton was charged with making terrorist threats and was released from the Shelby County Jail on Sept. 10 after posting $15,000 bond, according to court documents.

Making terrorist threats is a Class C felony. If found guilty, Dutton could face up to 10 years in prison.

Dutton is set to appear before Judge Dan Reeves for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 15 at 8:30 a.m.
