COLUMBIANA—Every second Sunday of the month will be movie night at Columbiana United Methodist church, beginning Aug. 10 with the film “Heaven Is for Real.”
Movies shown at the monthly event will appeal to all ages and will include a variety of genres, according to Drake Roberts, director of youth ministries for the church.
“It’s intended to be a family night,” Roberts said. “We’re trying to fit the realm of something everyone would enjoy.”
A different Sunday school class will host the event each week and popcorn and soda will be served. Some chairs will be available, but attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket.
Depending on the season and weather, the movie will be screened on the lawn or in the multipurpose room, Roberts said, and noted the church hopes to see as many as 200 people attend.
The purpose of the event is simple.
“We just want people to be able to enjoy an evening watching a movie,” Roberts said.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month, with a time for fellowship before the movie.
