General Motors has issued more than 45 recalls so far in 2014, but despite the recalls Edwards Chevrolet is thriving, General Sales Manager Marty Phillips said.

“I’m certainly not taking it (the recalls) as a negative. We just have to keep a positive outlook. We’re happy to do the work,” Phillips said.

The recall process is simple, Phillips explained. First, General Motors sends a notification letter to the owner of the car. Alternatively, customers can call Edwards Chevrolet with their VIN number and ask if their vehicle is under recall.

The owner can then call Edwards Chevrolet with the information in the letter, and the dealership will order the parts and notify the owner when the parts are in and the owner just has to “come in and get it fixed,” Phillips said.

The dealership also encourages car owners to “stop by” so the mechanics can take a look at the vehicle.

“Really, it’s whatever is easiest for the customer,” Phillips said.

Phillips emphasized the positive aspects of the recall, such as additional interactions with customers, a busy service department and a chance to for General Motors to be “proactive” with future recalls.

“It’s an opportunity for Edwards Chevrolet and General Motors to step up and make sure everyone has a car that is as safe as it can be,” Phillips said.
