Looking for some fun out of the sun? North Shelby Library will be hosting a plethora of summer events for library members of all ages to enjoy.

“It’s a great resource for the community,” said Cecelia Dean, who serves as Children’s Librarian at North Shelby Library.

The library’s Science of Playing with Food will take place July 3 in the meeting room. Participants will try their hands at making homemade ice cream, root beer floats and Mentos and Diet Coke eruptions. All who wish to attend must register.

Members of all ages are welcome to join North Shelby Library’s fourth annual Summer LEGO competition. Participants must construct an original creation using their own LEGO or LEGO compatible building blocks. The competition will take place July 11, and registration space is still available.

On Thursday, July 10, Gigi’s Cupcakes will be coming to the library for decoration. Cupcakes and decorating supplies will be provided by the library. Interested members may register online.

For creative minds in the North Shelby area, there will be Minecraft at the Library July 14. Participants, who are requested to bring personal laptops or tablets, will have the opportunity to display their “world-building” skills in a Minecraft competition. The event will include several offline activities, as well. Interested members may register online to reserve their place in the competition.

Adult activities, such as the Trivia Night on July 18 and the Paint and Pour on July 15 may be monitored online for openings.
