Crowson wins district judge seat

Shelby County welcomes Daniel A. Crowson, Jr. as its new district judge, Place 2 after he defeated Dave Roper in the June 3 Republican primary election.

Crowson, who will be replacing current District Judge Ronald Jackson, took the win with 67.56 percent of the votes.

“It’s an honor. We worked really hard,” Crowson said after learning of his victory. “Really, it’s humbling. I really do appreciate the folks who went out and voted for me, and the volunteers who helped me.”

Crowson said he plans to savor the victory before taking his seat after the November general election.

“We’re tired. It’s been exhausting, but I’ve enjoyed going out and politicking,” stated Crowson.

Crowson’s opponent, Dave Roper received 32.44 percent of the votes. As of June 3, Roper had not returned calls seeking comment.
